“How companies treat their employees during the pandemic of Coronavirus will define their brand for decades”. This was the statement of Mark Cuban for CNBC last week as he was lamenting on the consequences of Covid-19 pandemic that has forced on lockdown over 200 countries.

The unexpected nightmare
No one could have predicted that 2020 would put almost the entire world population in quarantine. The number of casualties is devastating and the digit of infections is not showing any sign of slowing down. The stakes are high that we might never return to our pre-coronavirus life and consequently, a radical shift is expected to transform our way of functioning in the economic, political, and social sphere. Despite the fact that health issue remains deservedly the most important concern, we can comfort ourselves by taking Wuhan (the China region where Covid-19 started) as a point of reference. There, life is starting to get back to normality. However, the next concern might lie somewhere else!
Business industry in decline
Businesses are expected to pay a heavy price from the Covid-19 pandemic; be them large companies or start-ups.
Bloomberg
predicts that coronavirus could cost the world economy up to $2.7 trillion. With companies shutting down their office activities without a defined plan for the future, many employees around the world face job uncertainty besides the virus threat. According to the Economic Policy Institute in United States, coronavirus crisis could leave a whopping 14 million people jobless. Europe does not stand better in this regard either.
Companies have expressed their willingness to show solidarity with their employees despite the financial pain that might lie ahead. Forbes recent article showed that Microsoft has decided to continue paying employees hourly wages regularly even if they don’t follow strict clock measures because of coronavirus. Apple and Cisco followed the same example. Unfortunately, these companies are not the norm as the majority of other companies will not pay their employees due to serious financial implications.
Kosbit chooses people over profit
Employees represent a crucial part of Kosbit philosophy. Our success story derives from their commitment in their responsibilities towards our partners. Thus, before we even had the first case of infection with coronavirus in Kosovo, Kosbit employees were instructed to start working from home as a measure of precaution for their health safety. To further affirm loyalty towards them, Kosbit board has decided to continue paying all 72 employees their full-wages without any change. We believe that this approach reaffirms the employee at the center of our philosophy, and as a side effect follows their level of work commitment towards our partners including: AT&T, Tech Mahindra, Vodacom, and others.
Additionally, our company has started to give free consultations for companies that are facing challenges in working remotely. For companies that lack experience in this regard, cyber-attacks pose a great threat to them, thus we are offering sessions with our network architects and experts FREE of any charge on: Network Security, Voice and Video Infrastructure, and Cybersecurity. You can book a meeting by clicking here .
In relation to community assistance, Kosbit board has decided to donate basic food packages for 100 families in need. Covid-19 crisis has added further problems to their already difficult circumstances and our board has made an effort to alleviate their difficulties.
