Challenge
In general, the modern workforce is increasingly mobile, and business-critical applications are running over the Internet across multiple clouds. Traditional WAN architectures can’t keep up, because of lack of available bandwidth, limited security, and increased complexity, which prevents IT from responding to business needs faster. Company X, with over fourteen-thousand employees, two hub locations and thousand spoke branch sites including the industrial sites, and only fourteen overworked IT staff, the Company X’s team was struggling to barely keep the lights of their network on. “We were in the bad mood every time when management called us and said trucks aren’t moving, forklifts aren’t moving, hand-scanners aren’t working, work process is held, network printers are stuck, cameras aren’t streaming” per IT manager’s words.
There were service interruptions that often froze the business operations. Without global visibility, efforts to solve these individual problems often introduced problems in other branches as well. In traditional WAN, Company X and its staff was forced to travel on-site or hire specialists to service Cisco infrastructure and both were slow and expensive, either its staff or the onsite workers. IT manager at Company X was wondering why they are not moving into SD-WAN to solve all these business-critical issues. “Now days anyone with a credit card can buy a SaaS application.” IT manager said, discussing how his Global IT Operations team at Company X struggled to scale the network and prioritize critical applications. “It was like finding a needle in a haystack.”

Fortunately, Company X already had existing Cisco 4000 Series Integrated Services Routers (ISR 4000) and 1000 Series Aggregated Services Routers (ASR 1000) deployed in their traditional WAN. Because of that, Kosbit network engineering team was able to enable Cisco SD-WAN through a software upgrade for immediate results. Prior to that, in some branches Kosbit LLC needed to create the network design and create BoM/EoL for the new equipment such as vEdge1000 and vEdge100. Kosbit LLC network engineering team integrated SD-WAN from Cisco Viptela to Company X’s infrastructure and built their IaaS network for their branches and industrial sites, by eliminated operational OPEX such as turning of the MPLS service in favor of basic and business internet leveraging the SD-WAN technology.
Kosbit LLC’s network engineering team also integrated the SD-WAN Management orchestration plane and the control plane (vManage, vSmart and vBond) to Company X on premise datacenter servers using ENCS 5412 VNF to leveraging the multi-layer security for their network. Company X chose to use the Cisco DNA Premier to enable advanced security those will mitigate most sophisticated threats to their production network. Company X now has the potential to keep everything running on a consistent basis, meeting the stringent demands of executives, workers and consumers alike. With consistent network policies, segmented traffic, remotely managed sites, and the ability to extend SD-WAN into even their harshest environments, Kosbit LLC has prepared Company X for the future of networking.
