Challenge

Network traffic has grown exponentially over the last several years, and this trend is expected to continue into the foreseeable future. Nowadays, networks must be capable of scaling well beyond the needs of today in order to deal with the traffic of tomorrow while at the same time providing investment protection. The challenges included:

• Scalability and expansion of Big Data Infrastructure

• Provisioning and managing of the large number of nodes

• Providing cost effective solution for the full life-cycle of data and processing it as requested

• Data storage and quality

• Ensuring rapid and predictable delivery of insights through highly scalable infrastructure

• Optimizing application and infrastructure performance

• Bringing flexibility and scalability to dense storage for Big Data

• Flexible modular architecture to handle both high performance and high capacity workloads

• Requesting infrastructure that can scaleup and scale-out to break down this digital divide

• Managed physical cluster to improve infrastructure utilization, and providing access controls and security isolation between tenants

• A single platform built from unified compute, fabric and storage technologies, allowing you to scale to large-scale implementations without architectural changes

Solution

• Selection of secure hardware resources suited to the business

• Introduction of new configuration to reduce construction time

• Enable the company to collect, process, manage, derive business insights from this large amount of data

• Leverage a secure, integrated, and optimized converged stack that is pre-sized, configurable and deployable in a flexible manner

• Multi Tenancy

• Resource Fragmentation

• Single point of management for Network

• Simplify, optimize, and accelerate the entire application deployment lifecycle

• Centralize management for servers and network independently

• Make the deployment easy

• Enable scalability for Big Data workloads

Business Results

Kosbit’s duty in this project was to provide an end-to-end solution to simplify network operations, configuration, and management for midsize campus networks. Our advantage is that we prepare hardware resources optimally in order to quickly and flexibly respond to customer needs. Network devices that were used in this process included: Routers, Switches and Firewalls with features, such as:

o maximum network high bandwidth,

o high availability, and

o high extensibility

The end results of our solutions benefited our client by reducing construction time and raising productivity without impacting service quality or customer satisfaction.

The solution provides centralized network architecture for enterprises-level, small and medium-size business through simplified operations, supporting from 244 ports and up to 1500W POE power per slot.

The highly intelligent performance offers non-blocking layer 2 – 4 switching with secure, flexible communications. Any two Cisco Catalyst 4500E/6800 series Switches with Supervisor Engine 7L-E/7-E/8-E can be pooled together into a VSS, which doubles the system bandwidth, improves resiliency of the system and delivers the highest centralized reliable performance. VSS is a revolutionary technology that allows four supervisors to run in hot redundancy mode in a single VSS system, achieving 99.999 percent uptime in the network through multilevel failover protection with a single resilient control plane.
Redundant fans, 1+1 power supply redundancy, and support for Virtual Switching System (VSS), thereby limiting network downtime, and ensures workforce productivity, customer satisfaction, and profitability.

The platform supports up to 220Gbps slot capacity per port-card. Comprehensive suite of Virtualization features including L2/L3 VPN, full MPLS, EVN, VRF aware applications for NAT Netflow, GRE for v4/v6, L2 extensions with VPLS to segment different user groups and serve unique security/QoS policy requirements of each of these diverse user groups.

The Cisco Firepower 5500 Series is a family of six threat-focused NGFW security platforms that deliver business resiliency through superior threat defense. It offers exceptional sustained performance when advanced threat functions are enabled. The ASA 5500 series’ throughput range addresses use cases from the SOHO/ROBO to the internet edge. It provides comprehensive protection from known and advanced threats, including protection against targeted and persistent malware attacks. New threats are automatically assessed to determine which ones can affect your business. Responses are then focused on remediation and network defenses are adapted to changing threat conditions. Engineers can streamline operations to correlate threats, assess their impact, automatically tune security policy, and easily attribute user identities to security events.
