Case Study: AT&T – MRS Renewal
Challenge
In order to renew a contract with a client for maintenance of the routers, there were a list of calculations to be made.
For each client there were a list of routers in the excel spreadsheet and another list of associated components with each router and their cost. In addition to that, there was the log of the on-time-services. There was a catalogue of routers and their expiration date for the service support, which had to mark each router in order for Service Support to check the one that time expired for and replace it with the new one.
Solution
We built a Windows Application to combine the files and mark the Wear-out routers. Also we extracted the total cost of the renew contract based on the cost of the individual components.
Results
This automation saved 3-6 hours per event and automated accurate output generation helping AT&T to:
• Improve time management
• increase efficiency
• improve productivity
• improve working processes and collaboration
This was the comment of our AT&T manager John Hodyl:
“Just a quick thanks to Behar and Carl for the MRS renewal tool they provided our team. We were able to put the tool into production late February – since then we’ve used it on almost a weekly basis – saving anywhere for 3-6 hours per event. Not only the time savings, but I view the true value of the tool is that it took a manual effort – prone to errors – and automated so we now know the completed output is “clean” and accurate.”
